Tropical fern leaves after rain

Finally, the rain

There was finally enough rain last night and reading this morning, 46mm of rain to revive the vegetation. After months of dry season fire pressure, this rainfall marks a turning point as vegetation begins its recovery. The wet season brings hope for regeneration across fire-affected areas, though the scars of this year's fires will take time to fully heal.

Yet some area burnt

Some part of Ambohitantely Reserves has been the prey of fire starting today. All the local population and the authority are working on putting off the fire. This event highlights the ongoing challenge of fire management in Madagascar's reserves, where human activities and dry conditions combine to create persistent threats to protected habitats.

Fires in Baly

Fire activity has been detected in the Baly Bay region of northwestern Madagascar. Satellite data from VIIRS shows multiple hotspots across the area, affecting important dry forest habitats. The fires come during the peak of the dry season when conditions are most conducive to fire spread.
